Open Enrollment and Lottery
We are currently accepting applications for the Private Early Childhood Program.
Open Enrollment for the Charter Program is now closed. We will begin accepting applications for next year’s Charter enrollment on Feb 15th, after the lottery.
Spaces are currently available in the high school.
Private Pre-school and kindergarten spaces do not go through the lottery.
Admission of students to charter grades (K-12) is based on the priorities that State law requires with an annual Open Enrollment lottery. Because of the extraordinary education we provide, we currently have waiting lists for most classes. If there is a waiting list for a grade level, new applicants from open enrollment are added to the next year’s priority list after those carried forward from the waiting list of the current year.
The Open Enrollment period for new applications begins in November 1st and closes at midnight December 31st. On the second Friday in February, all completed applications take part in our electronic lottery. To be eligible to participate in the lottery, an applicant must have been on a tour and completed all other checklist items in the online application system.
In early March through June, spaces available for the following year begin to be awarded in following priority order:
siblings of currently enrolled students
applicants carried forward from the waiting list, who have completed their parent education requirements*
Open enrollment applicants in the order of their lottery number.**
In August, additional spaces in the classes are often awarded. Over the summer some families inevitably have unexpected life changes, making some spaces available that were not known at the end of the school year.
Places for the private early childhood programs are on a “first-come, first-served” basis.
Classes are continually enrolling as space become available.
If you have additional questions, please email the Enrollment Director.
Thank you for your interest in Desert Marigold School.
* Families on the waiting lists generally must attend two Parent Education sessions as well a Parent Orientation session in order to be carried forward to retain their priority in the following year.
** New parents, who have not been on a waiting list, must attend a Parent Orientation and what Education sessions are available.
