Agriculture Education Update Nov 2nd

by admin on November 2, 2012

The students have been busy in the garden this week,  with most of the beds all planted we spent time maintaining plots and building infrastructure.  The sixth grade now has beautiful trellises for their winter squash to grow up.  Fifth grade did an awesome job weeding, planting and documenting growth in their beds.  Fourth grade and third grade both went on a garden hunt where they recorded what’s growing in the garden as well as bugs, trees and tools they found too.  Third grade also got to taste their lettuce from their bed!  Every single student tasted a piece and some students came back for seconds, thirds and more!  Second grade has babies in their beds and we are working to remember to water them.  First grade is getting ready to plant in their newly built raised bed!  With the cooler weather we are enjoying our time outside and are looking forward to more harvest days!

The Second and Third grades will be planting a large crop of wheat this week.  If you are interested in helping with the planting, please see Bobi or Meghan.
