For those who were not able to come to the Día de los Muertos Potluck Picnic, last Friday (November 1st, 2013) Manny Aroz has complied a presentation so we can share some impressions of the event. We want to thank all those who contributed to helping make this year’s event a success.
Each year the experience is new and fresh, but what does not change is the atmosphere of community and friendship. This year especially, I felt a strong family like mood throughout the weeks leading to the event: the behind the scenes preparations, with so many activities distributed among different age groups and generations, the anticipation of bringing it all together and finally all of us converging on Friday if not physically, then in spirit. When we formed a circle and sang our Day of the Dead song, its words resonated with unmistakable truth: “El amor unidos nos ha de guardar.” (Love will keep us together)
